Raviolis are the Tedeschi side of the family’s Christmas Day dinner tradition. This year, we gathered to learn how “Weenie” (my Mom) creates the pasta and the filing and puts it all together… My 90-year-old Swedish Dad was relieved for the break – for years, he was recruited as the only assistant.
I confess, I pretty much just watched the making-and-rolling-and-stuffing action as Mom (“WeenieCanCook”) instructed, Margaret took recipe notes and created some awesome video (hopefully forthcoming!). Eric, neighbor Judy and my sisters did all-else with some critical kneading “aide” from Mom’s home health helper Mary. From Ghana, Mary was a dough master, proving that some things are culturally pretty universal.
